with my second animated movie review of my first
2D theatrical movie experience. I am not gonna go in depth with this movie as I did the other movie, because unlike that movie, this franchise is has heart and I am a casual brony.
So here are my pros and cons abut the movie.
Pros
Good animationSticks to the formula of the TV series
Great songs
Awesome world building
Great new characters and designs
Zoe Saldana is cast as an outlaw, again.
Cons
Only one Hippogryph. Kinda lame.Fluttershy and Applejack didn't recruit any friends
Movie needed more Fluttershy
Celestia stole Twilight's spot in the end credits
The storm king was less impressive than other villains who are less impressive than Discord.
DEBATE: Was Liev Schreiber a better villain here than in X-Men origins?
Usually great films are left lingering in my head after watching it. This one however left me feeling after a while.
I wont give this movie a by numbers scoring, like I did in my videos, so I will just that its: OKAY.
Sorry, Hasbro. But, even your awesome animation team can't save your theatrical reputation from mid level story telling.
Stick to making animated series and selling merchandise.
At least this movie was more enjoyable than The Last Knight.

Dream Journal - 22.03.2024
A two for one deal. DC Superhero Girls A glimpse into what the villains have done over their vacations. With Giganta being stuck on a tiny desert island and Ivy talking about how war destroys beautiful nature and apparently having two dads. A story that made Giganta cry. Maybe this is reflecting how I find the villains more interesting than the heroes. This is DC after all and that I really like Lauren Faust's take on Doris Zeul. G.I. Joe? Me and my brother break into a house to gear up and dress like soldiers of Cobra with the television showing Cobra taking over Paris.. With a family friend, Aunty Alice coming back from her previous mission as a ninja, preparing me and my brother for combat. NB: Keep in mind, my brother is more of a fantasy kind of guy and Aunty Alice is about as combat ready as Roland Emmerich is subtle. JMK over and out.
25/02/2024 - Two weird dreams
JMK here, I had three weird dreams last night. One of which I can not remember now and the other two revolving around cloning. Slugterra Dr. Blakk has successfully cloned the Shane Gang. In his usual 'ghoul' like fashion. TMNT: 2012 The turtles, April and Casey have all been cloned. Then, I really don't remember what comes after that. Except that everyone comes out of these barrels of oil and it turns out that Xever (Fish Face) comes out of another oil barrel as a lemon? I can't really remember. But Karai comes out as another fruit and Shredder takes Karai and says some thing along the lines of "She will be there at my funeral." Which too me sounds like the basis for a very disturbing fruit related Japanese horror story. You know like the boy from the peach? Anyway, its Sunday. Time to chill the best way I know how, finally getting to play some Fortnite. JMK over and out.
Swift - Mania
JMK here, What a way for me to start the new month. After a constant bombardment of bad news after bad news getting only worse and worse, Id figured that a fun game of American Football in the month of love would be the best way to chill out in this weird and wacky winter. Unless you are a Ukrainian or a Gazan. Speaking of Ukraine, it is nice that the country that is single handedly¹ fighting NATO's war for them got 'Person of the year' on Times Magazine in 2022. Then Taylor Swift got the cover in 2023. Now let me clarify, I not a swift fan². I do not hate her it is just that she has become do damn popular last year and all she does is sing and dance and guess what? That is all that people need right now. Some fun, light, entertainment in a world of fear, darkness and hatred. Yes, the Ukrainians are fighting not just for their country but for the rest of the free world and entertainers like Miss Swift are needed now more than ever. Explaining my 2024 drawing line up
JMK here, I posted this photo collage today, not just because it is the mid way point between paying tribute to these two jeans wearing gun totting vigilantes. But also because it is the transition period between drawing more pieces related to real life events post past and present and drawing pieces related to works of fiction in the same manner. The only difference is that I do not really care about the real world anymore and it kind of shows in my recent work. I mean, they are better than most of my past works but they do not live up to this new standard that I have set for myself. I did not give it my all paying tribute to a real world hero, who saved my city from terrorists, Obi Wan Nairobi. That is the last straw. Before I could get back to making more drawings related to other 'interesting' real life events, I need to get my act together when it comes to my art style. I can not, in good conscience, mess up my final piece of fan art to my favorite live adaptation of
